I love Valentine’s Day! Not because my husband lavishes me with gifts….because he doesn’t. I don’t get him anything either actually. We rarely do anything as a couple on Valentine’s Day. It’s all about the family and our kids in our house! So I put up our Valentine’s Day decor to reflect that. Lots of love, lots of hearts and all about the family.
You can see how I made that round striped love sign HERE. That sign became the centerpiece of my Valentine’s Day mantel this year and I had fun creating all of the other things to go along with it!
Valentine’s Day Decor: Pink & Gold Mantel
I got that gold polka dot poster board at Hobby Lobby. They have a bunch of fun poster boards that they call “designer.” I trimmed it a little and then popped it in my big Ikea frame which created a nice backdrop for everything.
I also got some wood letters for the XOXO garland and spray painted the Xs gold and painted the Os with the same Cameo Blush craft paint I used on the Love sign. I also spray painted that wire heart basket I got at the Target dollar spot while I was at it. The Xs and Os were a bit heavy so I looped some masking tape and actually stuck the letters to my frame and wood backdrop just to secure it a little more.
And for the heart garland I just punched out hearts using my heart punch (an almost 3″ heart punchI also found at Hobby Lobby) and scrapbook paper from this pack. It matched perfectly! Then I literally used scotch tape to tape the hearts on a piece of twine. Couldn’t have been easier!
Then I put our latest family picture up (which happened to be alllll the right colors- score!), put some faux peonies in some vases and I was done!
I think it’s so pretty I bet I will keep it up way past Valentine’s Day this year!
Love the photograph with backlight! We don’t have a fireplace (my husband and I intentionally bought a house that did not have one), so we do not have a mantel to put stuff on. But, we do have some floating shelves. For whatever reason, it never occurred to me to switch out different decorations, LOL!
