For the past few years one of my favorite things my family and I do in the fall is sit down and write all of the things we are grateful for. I have tried displaying these things in different ways (see Vinyl Thankful Tree and my Be Thankful Mantel) but I’ve been wanting to come up with something we could pull out and use each year. So I designed a printable Thankful Tree and I love it! I’m sharing it with you today so you can make one too! It’s the perfect family night activity. It’s fun to see what my kids put year-to-year… for example, my boys are currently binge watching The Office and so that made the tree (twice). Ha! In years past Pokemon, Dora and The Indianapolis Colts have all made it on to the thankful tree as well. So cute!
All you need to do is download the tree print HERE and print the tree as a 16×20 (I printed mine at Costco). Then put it in a frame or display it some how in your home.
Then download the leaves HERE and print out a sheet for everyone to write something they are thankful for on each leaf.
Then cut out each leaf (I would have everyone cut out their own if they are able) and adhere them to your tree!
I had fun placing some of them off the edge of the mat for a more 3D effect. You could also slightly curl some of the leaves or fold them in half down the middle to create a more leaf-like appearance!
I love this tradition and am so happy to have a way to re-create it each year so easily!
I am so loving this! You have some of the best digital style!
I really like this idea for a family project. Everyone sharing thier things that they are thankful for. Super cute 🙂
Loved this. Thank you! I printed the trees and I am giving one to my mother-in-law to brighten up her November. my father-in-law just passed away a few months ago and it was too soon and i thought this would be a perfect thing for our first Thanksgiving with out him. QUESTION? I am printing the leaves at costco and was wondering what size to get the correct size leaf? I forgot to print the leaves when i ndid the trees and now I need to get it done before november is over! 🙂
I designed the leaves to be printed on an 8.5×11 sheet of paper so your best size available at Costco would probably be 8×10. They might be a little smaller than what I show but they will still work great! So sorry to hear about your father-in-law. The first holidays without a loved one are always the hardest.
Thank you for stopping by! Landee
How do you get these to print at Costco?
Hi! You need to create a Costco Photo Center account and then you just upload the file and order it in the size you want! They usually have it done in a couple of hour or next day if you order late.
I just printed this out and can’t wait to get the kids to help me create our own Thankful Tree. Love it!
Sharing. =)
What do you use to adhere the leaves to it? Something permanent like glue? You mentioned using it again each year… Thanks!
Hi Christy! I just used little loops of painters tape. They stayed on well but then were easy to remove! Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you so much for this! Like you, I have done several variations of this project — I am so glad to finally have a version that we can use for years to come! This is beautiful and I can’t wait to see it completed on Thanksgiving.
I uploaded this to Costco and got the resolution warning. Did you print the 38 kb in a 16×20? Otherwise do you have a higher res image or am I doing something wrong? Thank you! I love the printable!
Hey Tiffani! So sorry about that! I fixed the links to the high res version. Thanks for letting me know!
You are amazing! Thanks so much.
What size is your frame if your print is 16×20 matted.?
I think it’s a 20×30 from IKEA. Hope that helps!
thank you so much for being willing to share. i love this so much!!!
When I click on the tree and leave links it just takes me to a blank page? Would love to use these this week if possible!
I emailed you Britany! Thanks!
I love this printable, it’s exactly what I have been looking for! However, whenever I click the link to download it just takes me to a blank page:( Is there another way to download these? Thanks!!
Here is the link for the tree: https://app.box.com/file/240604390488
And here is the link for the leaves: https://app.box.com/file/240604466660
If those don’t work, email me and I will send them to you directly!
Thank you for this; it is GREAT! This is my year to host the family Thanksgiving, and this will be a perfect tradition to begin. When you say you ordered the print from Costco, I am assuming you did it on poster board and not as a photo? Thanks in advance.
Hi Tina! I had it printed 16×20 as a regular photo because I knew I was putting it in a frame. If you don’t have a frame you might want to have Costco print it on a poster board to give it some sturdiness.
You have to print any special way ? Thanks
Hi Elizabeth! I got it printed at Costco (they can do up to 20×30 size) and it worked great!
I love, love, love this idea and am gun-ho to make quick gifts for my mom and nieces. I think I’ll print multiple pages of the leaves and give them each a little holder or photo album to place the written leaves in each year.
Problem is though that I cannot open either link. I know this is an old post, but if you are still monitoring it, I would so love to get the files.
Thank you and blessings for a wonderful holiday season!!!
Marisela. Email me and I’ll send it to you directly. I’ll check the link too!
Hi! I work at an Assisted Living and I am going do this with my residents. Do you stick your leaves on the actual print or do you have glass in the frame and stick on the glass? Thanks!
I just stuck the leaves on the print but if you want to reuse it year after year you might want to stick it on glass in front of the print! That sounds like a great idea to use it at your work! So fun!
