I think a small potted poinsetta is such an easy and beautiful gift to give during the holidays. Everyone loves poinsettas and they are readily available at grocery stores. However, I’m not a huge fan of that shiny weird paper the pots are always wrapped in. So I set to work figuring out how to quickly make the pot into something stinkin’ cute in a matter of minutes using a thrifted sweater! It will make your gift just that much more special too! If you want to make it yourself, here is what you’ll need (as well as about 10 minutes).
SUPPLIES:
- an old sweater
- ribbon
- a potted poinsetta
- hot glue gun & glue
- scissors
STEP ONE: Cut the sleeve off of your sweater.
STEP TWO: Slip sleeve over pot of poinsetta and roll down top a couple of times to make a “cuff.”
STEP THREE: Trim excess length off of sleeve and then lightly glue down sweater to bottom of pot to keep it in place.
STEP FOUR: Tie ribbon around pot and you’re done!
It’s such an easy way to make a poinsetta cute and cozy for the holidays! If you want to make more than two (because you’ll use the two sleeves up), you can also cut your sweater apart and sew it a little to create a “tube” and do the same thing. It will just take you a little bit longer to make but would be just as cute!
So cozy and cute! Happy Christmas Crafting everyone! ‘Tis the season! 🙂

I love this idea. I always feel bad when I have to toss a ruined sweater and the sleeves are usually fine. I think this would work well for a baby shower gift too.
