I have also seen a quote that goes something like “Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies.” And aren’t these statements so true? I don’t know why we think it feels good to not forgive or to hold a grudge. I think the root of it all is pride. We become too prideful to put certain things aside and move on. Somehow we get conditioned to believe that the one who wants to repair the relationship first is the weak one. Why is that? Forgiveness (even if they don’t forgive you) is so hard sometimes! Especially when they have really hurt you. But it’s the only way to really be happy, I’m convinced. Like this quote says, it doesn’t excuse the behavior but it saves you from a lot more unnecessary heartache.
Have a wonderful Sunday, friends!
