How to Make Slime: Easy Fluffy Slime!

May 3, 2017 74 Comments

Hello and welcome to Landeelu.com!  So glad you’re here!

I’m guessing that since you landed on this post either you or someone in your house has joined the slime obsession that is sweeping the nation!  My daughter learned how to make slime a few months ago and she has made some almost every day since!  She has tried all different kinds of slime but her favorite by far is FLUFFY SLIME.  Have you heard of fluffy slime?  It only needs three ingredients (plus food coloring if you want) and it’s really easy.  No wonder it’s her favorite!  If you want to learn how to make slime too, see below!  We have step by step instructions and tips for you.The ultimate recipe for making slime! See how to make slime easily with household products! So fun to play with!

The three ingredients for fluffy slime are (may contain affiliate links):

  • White school glue
  • Shaving cream
  • Contact solution
  • OPTIONAL: Food coloring

It’s hard to come up with exact measurements (and who wants to measure things out anyway?) for slime and the nice part is, you don’t have to!  You can tinker with it until you get it right so don’t fret!

HOW TO MAKE SLIME (FLUFFY SLIME):

  1.  Pour enough glue into the bottom of a container to cover the bottom.  Make the glue about 1/4 inch deep.
  2.  Add food coloring if desired.  For this we put in 2 drops blue, 2 drops red.
  3. Mix food coloring into glue.
  4.  Add about 1.5x as much shaving cream as glue (again, this is not an exact science so don’t worry!)
  5. Mix together the glue and shaving cream.

Join the slime obsession and make this easy fluffy slime!

6.   Add contact solution about 1 Tablespoon at a time and mix.

7. Keep adding a little more contact solution and mixing until your slime begins forming into a ball-like form as you mix.  It will begin coming off the sides of your container and sticking together.

8. Put slime on flat surface and begin working it with your hands.  If it is too sticky, add more contact solution and knead it in.

9. If it’s too “watery” add some more shaving cream and knead it in. (Steps 8 + 9 may not be necessary!  Just add those things if you need to!)

10.  Stretch, squeeze and play with your new slime!

Learn how to make slime the easy way! Three ingredients for slime and you probably have them all in your house right now!

Brynn and I did a Facebook LIVE on how to make this fluffy slime if you’d like to watch that!  You can view it here:

I used shaving gel i had to beet it a little more but it worked very well 1 happy daughter. I used 150 ml glue to200ml of shaving gell with optrex multi action eye wash. Very cheap £3.50 for 100ml. If it starts to go sticky after playing with it add few drops more of they eye soloution to bring it back.

Laundry detergent is the one you want to avoid. I made batches and batches of slime for my l/o and we ended up getting steriod cream for the burns on her skin. They were red raised and blotchy and literally burning her. Not all I’m sure causes it but stay away from GAIN laundry detergent with slime!!

This is a silly question but….What can you do with it? Do you use it like Play Doe or Silly Puddy? How long does it last? How do you store it? Do you just manipulate it with your hands? It must have a calming effect. Good for really active kids.

Exactly! You just stretch it, squish it, twist it and play with it like Silly Putty. We just store it in ziplock baggies or small plastic food containers. I think it will last a good couple of weeks. Depends on how much it is played with! Thanks for stopping by!

I think my daughter has added warm water to some of her older slime to make it a little thinner. She also says playing with it a lot after adding the water helps too! Make sure you store it in an airtight container to make it last as long as possible!

We used borax which didn’t dissolve well with the water. So added contact solution which didn’t work. Used shaving gel instead of foam because didn’t know.
It is very soft with no ability to real stick together like proper slime. Can we doing anything to it? Kids are getting so discouraged.

Is there a particular contact lens solution needed for activation of the slime?

We used PVA glue, shaving foam and ‘Tesco All-in-One contact lens solution’ (Ingredients:
Disodium Edetate 0.025, Polyhexanide 0.0002%, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hypromellose, Poloxamer, Sodium & Potassium Chloride in isotonic buffered solution) and nothing happened! We got a foaming mixture but no polymer ball. V disappointed daughter!
Looked at other posts and some use a saline solution (do we just need the contact lens cleaning solution i.e. saline?)
    Many thanks,
    Lisa and Katie.

We just use the store brand “multi-purpose solution” that people use to just store their contacts in. I’m not sure if what you used is the same or not. Maybe just try a regular saline solution and see if you get different results? Slime is a science experiment! 🙂

    Hi,

I was wondering what the shaving foam does to the slime – is it a simple change in texture, or is there some properties change to the material too?

Any response would be appreciated. Thanks!

The shaving foam changes the entire texture of the slime. Before adding the shaving cream, the slime is very wet and “slimy” and after adding the foam it increases in volume and becomes a bit dryer to the touch. It’s a crazy science experiment! Good luck!

Make sure you choose a contact solution that has boric acid in it. I didn’t know this the first time we tried it and it didn’t work. The more solution you add, the less sticky it will be, but go slow so you don’t overdo it.
