Lifestyle Photography Shoot: An Incredible Day

A couple of months ago my family and I had the amazing opportunity to do a “lifestyle photo session” with my awesome photographer friend Piper Anne!   This isn’t your normal run-of-the-mill family photo session.  Oh no.  This is something all together different and awesome.  I am pretty sure that 90% of the time, my kids forgot a photo session was even happening!  Piper came into our home and lives for a couple of hours and captured us… how we interact, how we sit, how we look at each other, what we are RIGHT NOW.   It’s basically everything you wish your Instagram was…. but done by an amazing professional photographer.  🙂

I wanted to share this because I think it’s an amazing gift you could give yourself and your family!  As a mom (and the familyphotographer) I know it is so hard to get photos of myself interacting with my kids even though that is happening all day every day.   This is now at least one day, where I can see how we are as a family from another person’s perspective.  Love!

When we got started, Piper had us just sit around the kitchen table and play a game as we normally would. We decided to play a rousing game of Old Maid. 🙂

I love this pic of my son on his bed… so “teenager-y.” It’s awesome.  

We then headed to the quaint little downtown area of my town for some froyo!  This is really when my kids forgot they were in the middle of a photo shoot!

On the way back to the car after the frozen yogurt, we stopped at the park for a few traditional “posed shots” just because we could.  🙂

I love to sit and look through these photos (there are over 100 more photos, by the way) and I have done just that again and again since I got them!  I can only imagine how much more special they will be in a few years when my kids have grown even more.  I’m feeling like I want to do a lifestyle photo shoot every couple of years now… I’m spoiled!  How can I go back to “normal” family portraits now? 🙂

PS If you are in the Denver area, I highly recommend Piper Anne Photography!  She is amazing.  She made the entire experience so fun & easy-going.  We loved every second of the experience!  Plus I adore her. 🙂
