I originally shared this over at The Crafting Chicks a couple of weeks ago as part of their 12 Days of Christmas series. There are so many fun ideas over there, you should definitely check it out! I was excited to get the “Six Geese a-Laying” because I have been loving the feather trend as of late and this gave me the perfect opportunity to play around with some “geese feathers!” I have also loved the gold trend and so I thought I’d combine the two with some Gold Leafed Feather DIY Gift Wrap for this holiday season! Sometimes the wrapping can be just as special as the gift, don’t you think?
If you want to make it yourself, here is what you’ll need:
- feathers
- kraft wrapping paper
- white craft paint
- Liquid Gold Leaf
- small paint brush and round sponge brush
To make your wrapping paper, start by dipping a round sponge brush in your white paint and then dabbing it on your kraft paper. You can make them nice and evenly spaced or make it a little more quirky by doing it randomly. I went with random. 🙂 Reapply the paint as needed.
Then I shook up my liquid gold leaf and then dipped the eraser of a pencil into it to make some smaller gold dots. I also applied these randomly with some overlapping the white dots as well. (Tip: When I make more of this I will probably just use gold craft paint. The liquid gold leaf left a weird ring around some of the dots.)
For the feathers, I put down a piece of Press and Seal and then started painting my feathers with the liquid gold leaf using a small paint brush. Get creative! This part is so fun!
Then I just wrapped up my gift with my newly polka dotted paper, tied some white twine around it and attached one of my feathers!
Do you make the wrapping just as special as the gift or do you just wrap it and call it good?
I’ve added my social media links below in case you aren’t following me on any of them and want to!
Love this idea! So pretty!
