It seems like you can always find a reason to stop by a friend’s house and drop off a little goodie. Maybe you heard from another mom in your playgroup that another mom is going through some difficult times right now. Maybe you saw someone at church who looked like they could use a “hey! I’m thinking about you!” pick-me-up. Maybe, if you’re LDS and are a visiting teacher, you are always looking to drop off something to those you visit as a way to let them know you care. Whatever the reason, today I’ve got you covered! I’m sharing a cute and easy gift idea to package up and drop off to a friend, family member, casual acquaintance who you think might need it. How better would this world be if everyone did a “drop off” gift to someone different everyday? Or even just once a week? It would be glorious. 🙂
So here is what you’ll need to re-create these cute little bags for your friend:
- Goodie bags (I used an assortment of Middy Bitty Bags from Whisker Graphics)
- 4″ doilies (I found mine in the cake decorating section of Michaels. They are Wilton brand)
- Twine (I used Divine Twine in Solid Pink and Solid Green)
- Bird Stickers (I used Chick Petite Stickys from Whisker Graphics)
- Just a Little “TWEET” tags you can download HERE without a bird, and HERE with a bird.
STEP ONE: Fold about 1/3 of the doily and wrap it around lower side edge of bag. Adhere it into place with your favorite adhesive.
STEP TWO: Punch out (with 2″ circle punch) or cut out Just a Little “TWEET” tags. Adhere tag on top of doily.
STEP THREE: If using birdie stickers, cut out bird from the rest of sticker, leaving a small border of white. Stick bird at top of tag.
STEP FOUR: Fill bag with whatever you’d like (I used Dove chocolates which a) are my favorite and b) Doves. Are. Birds! I just realized this as I was typing this up, by the way. Love happy accidents.).
STEP FIVE: To secure the top closed, fold the top and then punch two rows of three holes with small hole punch.
STEP SIX: Lace twine through holes like you would with shoelaces and tie in bow on back of bag.
And then you’re ready to go make someone smile!
If you couldn’t get your hands on the birdie stickers in time, then here is what the tag looks like with the bird already on it.
I chose to fill these with chocolate but I also think a couple of cookies, some wrapped hard candies or a candy bar would be awesome too! It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to let someone know you are thinking about them. And if all you can/want to do is staple the tag onto a bag then do it! Don’t let the various steps to “cute up” the bag stop you from reaching out to someone.
Hope YOU have a great day!
Thank you so much for this idea. I’m going to make these for all my primary teachers. And I love that you put dove chocolate inside. Perfect!
Love it! Just pinned!!
Thank you Kristen!! 🙂
You are so adorable! These are so cute!
Thanks Rebecca! 🙂
