Flower Craft Idea: Button Bouquet (with free printable tags!)
Before I begin, I just want you to know that I am FULLY aware that Mother’s Day is TOMORROW and that this might be a little bit late for some of you over-acheivers who have had something for your mom picked out for months. HOWEVER, I am also fully aware that there might be some of you out there who roll like I do and are constantly scrambling at the last second. IF you are one of those types… I’ve got the perfect thing for you to make for your mom! It will take you a matter of minutes (maybe 15?) and your mom will be overjoyed that you “handmade” her something! We all know that handmade gifts trump store bought gifts so this will definitely secure your place as favorite child (this year).
Also, even if you planners already have something for your mom this holiday, pin this for her birthday! Or make it for any day she needs a little pick-me-up from her favorite child! I’ve also made tags so you can make this for a teacher or friend too! They are so fun to make, I figured you might want to make these year round. I wouldn’t blame you.
Here’s what you need:
- flowers (a bouquet or potted flowering plant– I got mine at the grocery store for about $6)
- buttons
- 16 guage wire, cut into about 12″ pieces
- Tags (download HERE), printed, cut out and hole punched
- twine or ribbon
Raid your stash of buttons or go pick some up at your local hobby store. Buttons can be quite inexpensive and are so cute! Perfect mix.
Stack your buttons, large to small, to create a “flower” effect. Thread your wire up through the holes and back through (as pictured above) leaving enough to be twisted and secured (as pictured below).
If you need your wire “stem” to be stronger, cut your wire pieces longer and thread it all the way through so it can be completely doubled coming back down through. Then twist the two pieces together all the way to the bottom.
Then stick your cute little button flowers in your real flowers, spacing and arranging them how you want! Attach a tag with twine or ribbon and you’re done!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a fabulous weekend!
This is sooo cute, Landee! It’s cute as a button!! (had too!!) LOL!! Seriously darling, love the tags too!

I knew you couldn’t pass up a button pun! Thanks girls!
It’s 9pm the night before Mother’s Day, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The paper flower bouquet idea I had planned days ago was a total bust when my girls and I tried to assemble them for the 4 grandmothers. We are using your awesome button tags and altering the idea some by gluing buttons onto the pieces of paper flowers we had left from our disaster. You have saved the day!
OH my goodness! So happy to help! I’m sure all of the grandmothers will love whatever you make!
What a fresh, new idea! Thanks for sharing. It was fun being a part of the Blog Hop with you this month. I’m loving all you recent ideas, by the way.

Cutest idea ever – need to pull out that button box!
These are so cute! Such a great way to add character to a potted plant!
Super cute idea!! I am making it this year! Any chance you could add a “Grandmothers” tag??
Landee: I liked the idea of button bouquet. A special for mother of young children it a great way for them to give a gift to their grandmothers and say I did that, the joy it brings to grandmother is priceless. Happy Mother to you. Suzanne
