I’ve become a bit obsessed with wire as of late. It’s just so dang versatile and easy to work with! I was excited when I thought of making this cute wire heart garland and I think it turned out just as cute as I imagined (which is not always the case!). I think it took me about 30 minutes from start to finish and very little money. Give it a try! Here is how you make it…
STEP ONE: Cut wire (I used 12 guage wire) into 18″ pieces. If you want your hearts bigger, make them longer. If you want them smaller, cut them shorter. Cut as many pieces of wire as you want hearts.
STEP TWO: To make the heart, bend the wire in half and, using pliers, pinch together tightly to form the point of the heart.
STEP THREE: Find a round object to wrap the wire around to form the rest of the heart shape. I found the top of a mason jar to be the perfect size I was looking for. Wrap both ends of wire around the object, one at a time, toward each other.
STEP FOUR: Gently pull wires apart and secure ends together using clear scotch tape, glue, etc to keep the shape of the heart in tact.
STEP FIVE: Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat…. and then tie the hearts together using ribbon, twine, yarn, etc. This will also make it wasy to fold up and store until next year! Adjust hearts as you want after hanging garland.
I love how it looks quite delicate but is pretty much indestructable. A little Valentine’s Day bling there on the mantel!
I obviously haven’t figured out what I’m doing for the rest of my mantel but I am sure glad to have this as a start! So, what do you think? Easy, right? Let me know if you give it a try!
Now go check out all of the other fabulous “heart-stopping” projects on the blog hop! 🙂

Trying to make the heart garland and can’t get the wires to come together what’s your trick.
Hi Joan! I wrapped a small piece of transparent tape to keep the ends of the wires together to form the heart. I hope that helps!
