It is not lost on me that I have already posted two Christmas crafts this November. But lest you think that I don’t care about Thanksgiving at all (which is one of my favorite holidays!) I am here to share with you my Easy Thanksgiving Banner (or bunting, as some call it) that I made for my mantel this year! I love how my “vision” turned out!
Here are the supplies you’ll need to make one of your own!
- burlap (I took the easy way out this year and bought mine already cut into the bunting shape I wanted. But you can save some money by cutting it yourself!)
- Thick chipboard letters spelling out desired word (found mine at Hobby Lobby for $1 each)
- Gold, metallic acrylic craft paint
- Cream acrylic craft paint
- Jute or twine
STEP ONE: Paint the edges of your letters gold. Then paint the tops/front cream. Allow to dry between colors.
STEP TWO: Put down piece of parchment paper and then hot glue letters onto burlap pieces. You’ll want the parchment paper down because that hot glue is going to squish right on through those holes in the burlap!
STEP THREE: Using a hole punch, punch holes at top of burlap pieces and string jute/twine through to hang. Done!
I love the extra sumpin-sumpin the thick letters with gold edges adds to the whole thing! I’m working on the rest of my mantel and will share that later this week.
Happy Thanksgiving Crafting!

Love this so much! Was the burlap bunting at Hobby Lobby
too? I might just have to copy you… this goes so perfectly with
the white and soft gold color scheme I’m going with this
year!
Yes! They were right there in HL next to the chip board letters. Have fun putting it all together!
Thank YOU!!!!
When using hot glue with the chipboard on burlap, can you pull the letters off and replace them with others for a chance of words or colors?
Very cute. Can you tell me where you purchased the bunting. Thank-you
Hi, how do you spray the side of the letters without the spray getting on to the front?
I painted the fronts of the letters first and then went back with a small brush and painted gold paint on the sides as carefully as I could without letting it get on the fronts of the letters. Hope that helps!
