Hello Spring! Finally it is here! I am always excited when we move from one season to another but, for obvious reasons, Springtime is particularly exciting! Warmer weather, greener grass, blooming flowers and everything that comes along with the Easter festivities. I generally don’t love some of the “cheesy” decor that comes with Easter but I think these darling burlap bunnies I came up with are the perfect mix of a modern silhouette with the “cuteness” of spring!
EASTER CRAFT IDEA: BURLAP BUNNIES
I spotted (no pun intended, promise!) (affiliate)this amazing burlap at Joann’s! Polka dot? Are you kidding? I used the gold on my St. Patrick’s Day mantel this year and then quickly set out to find a way to use all of the other colors I got my little hands on. The perfect amount of cute with a simple graphic element.
Pretty awesome, right? So I finally decided to make some Easy Burlap Easter Bunnies and I think they turned out so cute! Here is a little tutorial if you want to make some of your own:
STEP ONE: Cut TWO layers of burlap into a rectangle. Size depends on how big you want your bunny to be but I’d say anywhere from 5-7″ in width and 10-13″ in height is great. Then cut a deep “V” at the top for the ears.
STEP TWO: Put right sides of burlap together and pin in place. Sew a straight stitch along the three straight sides of rectangle, leaving the top open. Clip corners.
STEP THREE: Turn inside out and then sew a straight stitch up the sides of each ear.
(Side note: This is a fantastic projects to teach your kids how to sew! My 8 yo daughter was in sewing heaven making these!)
STEP FOUR: Fill burlap “sack” with dry beans, rice, etc. and then tie closed with twine, yarn, embroidery thread, etc. And then you’re done! Super easy, right?
And if you find them as fun to make as my daughter and I did and make a ton more than you were planning on making, I won’t judge you for that. 🙂 We made all of these in a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon. It was a near perfect day.
It’s the 10th day of the month, so I’ve gathered my creative blogging friends, and we came up with a PASTEL theme to create projects around, since SPRING is upon us! This begins our 11th month with this collaboration. We had so much fun with it the past 10 months, we decided to take it another round. One friend needed to part ways, so we added the amazingly talented Chelsea from Two Twenty One to the mix. If you’ve missed the past ten months of fun, please check them out! See my Easter Craft Idea: Burlap Bunnies pastel project below and then hop around to all of the other amazing pastel projects to pin & inspire this spring!

Stop it. Imagine a little pink fluffy nose and eyes too! LOVE these, so fun. And adore that your daughter is sewing away!
SO darn cute! I am pinning 🙂
Adorable! You were SPOT-on with these! {pun intended, just to make you grin} Cutest spring project I’ve seen this year! Thx for sharing the How-To:)
Too cute. Can’t help imagining these with matching cotton ball tails. Beyond adorable, if I had a sewing machine with me at school all my friends would be getting burlap bunnies as surprise presents.
That would be so cute! Embellish any way you’d like!
These are adorable, Landee! Pinned!!
Such a cute idea! This would be a great gift to give after an Easter egg hunt. I pinned it on my Crafts for Kids board.
Barb, I think so too! And I was even thinking you could fill them with jelly beans and make them a kind of fancy treat bag that you could use each year! Thanks for the pin!
I am thinking of this as a gift with candy for my mother’s friends at her retirement home. Easy to store when empty–in an apartment–and for them to use next year or to fill again, and give to someone else.
So these are the cutest thing ever!! Totally in love!
Thanks Leigh Anne!! 🙂
So. dang. adorable! I love the polka dotted burlap!
Isn’t that burlap amazing? I was so happy when I figured out something cute to make out of it! Thanks for stopping by!
So clever and adorable! Love it!
These are ADORABLE! I want to make some for teachers! Where did you purchase the cute polka dot burlap? Thanks!
At Joanns! So much fun!
I’m thinking these would be soooo cute to give teacher gifts in.
I agree! I’m guessing any teacher would love it!
Love this idea- super cute and not too difficult! I will be sharing it on my website in the next week or so with credit and linking back to you! Thank you for this inspiration!
I ordered some of this fun fabric from Joann’s…don’t have one near me, and I’m going to make them with some of my granddaughters! So excited. Thanks for all your creative ideas!
Good blog post. I absolutely love this website.
Stick with it!
Love the burlap bunnies! I am trying to link you back from my blog. I am not 100% computer savvy. I don’t want to get in trouble, so if I didn’t do it correctly, let me know and I can remove it. Very new to this.

So adorable! I shared this on my MamaWestWind business page. https://www.facebook.com/MamaWestWind
I don’t have a sewing machine, do you think fabri-tac would work with this instead or any other fabric glue?
I would think so! Just be sure to give it enough time to dry before filling them. You’ll have to let me know how it works if you decide to try!
So, So, So Cute!! Holly
