Do you love to throw birthday parties for your kids or would you rather they just thank you for your efforts in keeping them alive for another year and then go about their merry way? I have to admit, I’m kind of in the latter camp. I KNOW. I’m terrible! Maybe you’re like me? Well, I’m here to share with you a SUPER EASY party that anyone can throw for their child with very little effort! My daughter recently turned 10 and her party requests were a force to be reckoned with. No amount of ignoring or distracting would make her forget. So, a MONTH after her actual birthday I finally caved and came up with a fun Donut Birthday Party that anyone, and I mean ANYONE can put together! Even the laziest parent among us (aka ME).
Make a Donut Cake!
The details of this party can be altered according to your tastes and desires but basically, you stop by your local donut shop (my daughter opted for Krispy Kreme, of course!) and get yourself a boat load (3 dozen, at least) of donuts! This is the best part… you stack them up on a plate to make a DONUT CAKE. The girls went crazy for this thing! No need to make an elaborate birthday cake or pay a small fortune at a bakery for one either. Just stack some donuts! Done.
As far as decorations go, I did a little Pinterest search and found these darling printable donuts from Oh Happy Day! I printed out several copies and used them on a banner (made with a premade blank banner from Hobby Lobby– also where I got the glittery numbers for the top of the donut cake, by the way) as well as the goodie boxes we sent home as party favors. They were filled with clearance “fuzzy socks” from Target I found (fuzzy socks are my daughter’s FAVORITE thing!) as well as some gum and candies. Oh Happy Day has lots of cute ideas for using those printable donuts too!
I snagged those cute milk bottles from the Target Dollar Spot! I wasn’t planning on letting the girls take them home but they BEGGED because they loved them so much! It was cute begging so I had to let them. 🙂
I also got the banner below at the Target Dollar Spot as well… lucky me there was a LOT of birthday stuff there that day! I cut the big 1 and O with my gigantic vinyl machine (that I use for my Etsy Shop) but you could easily recreate it using butcher paper. OR just pick up some balloons from the party store, get a cute banner and call it good! I just wanted a fun photo backdrop! The donut “0” was perfect for a 10th birthday though!
Aren’t these girls darling? I love them all.
Oh, and while you’re at Krispy Kreme… go ahead and grab some hats from them (totally free!) to use as party hats. Easy!
As far as donuts games go, the most memorable one was the classic, “Eat a Donut Off A String” game! I put a sheet on the floor (a must) and taped some donuts to the ceiling. The girls loved it!
I also printed out enough of these Donut Sprinkle Game for each girl and punched out some colored paper for the “sprinkles.” They took turns rolling a dice and the first one to get EXACTLY 30 sprinkles won! They played this while eating some pizza and loved it! There are lots of adorable donut printable games on Pinterest too! Just search “donut printable” and you’ll have a million to choose from!
They spent the rest of the party time performing amazing Karaoke songs and playing in our hot tub. The beauty of a 10 year old’s party is they love to entertain themselves! I had a lot of downtime in between activities where they just liked giggling and enjoying each other’s company.
Not too bad, don’t you think? Like I said, the details can be altered… basically all you need to throw a DONUT PARTY is a bunch of donuts (don’t forget the hats!), balloons, a banner or two and some printable donut games. It’ll be a hit!

Thanks Amy!! She loved it and it was pretty dang easy to put together!
This is adorable and so easy! Love it!
Did you purchase the numbers (1-0) or did you make them? My daughter wants some similar for her cake.
I got them at Hobby Lobby! I think they were like $1.99 each. Have fun!
Awesome, I’ll have to look around for them. Thank you for the quick response and idea!!! 🙂
