DIY Painted Christmas Sign

I know I make a lot of signs and crafts but I really have to say, this is one of my favorites!  It could be because my obsession with stripes is in full swing, or because I love spray painting things gold or because I love ANYTHING Christmas… I’m guessing it’s all three!  All my loves in one little sign.

If you’d like to make one here is what you’ll need!

• pennant shaped wood plaque (available at Hobby Lobby)
• small stick wreath
• “J” and “Y” wooden letters
• gold spray paint
• white and grey craft paint
• gold vinyl lettering saying “to the world” (optional)
• masking/painter’s tape
• Mod Podge

STEP ONE:  Paint wood plaque white and allow to dry.  Apply tape in stripes and paint.  Allow to dry and then remove tape.  Sand edges (optional) of plaque.  Seal entire thing with coat of Mod Podge.

STEP TWO:  Spray paint the letters and small wreath with your gold spray paint until they are fully covered.  Hot glue wreath and letters onto plaque to spell out the word “JOY” and allowing the letters to hang off either edge of plaque a little.

STEP THREE:  Totally optional, because it is so cute without it, but I decided to add the words “to the world” in gold vinyl underneath the word JOY.  Mostly because I had some gold vinyl and a vinyl cutting machine. 🙂

STEP FOUR:  Also optional, you could hot glue a ribbon on the back to make it into a hanging sign!  It would make a fun alternative to a wreath on your front door.

This is a fun Christmas craft that is easy to make and has added so much to my Christmas decor this year… it makes me so happy to look at!
