Thank you to Home Depot for partnering with me on this post!
I love a good get together… especially since finishing our basement this last year. It’s the perfect place for us to have people over and entertain! So I was super excited to learn how to make this awesome Beverage Station for an upcoming #DIHWorkshop at Home Depot! How fun is this, right? Perfect for keeping drinks cold and holding other party goods all in one place! And the best part? You can learn how to make one at your local Home Depot! Get your hands on some power tools and come away with all the knowledge you need to make one yourself! Some stores will even have you build one right there (check with your local store)! What is a DIH Workshop? It is a “Do-It-Herself” class offered at your local Home Depot store! Home Depot offers DIY workshops and Kids workshops as well. Customers can go and learn how to build decor projects, how to make easy home repairs and how to operate tools through demonstrations and step-by-step instructions (you can learn more by visiting https://workshops.homedepot.com).
Here is the original project for the workshop:
And here is my version!
DIY Beverage Station
For my version I decided to do a fun coral ombre effect with some gold details. I love the coral + gold combination right now! I also knew it would look fab in the basement where the parties tend to be these days. And it was really quite easy to do!
I got a quart of Behr paint in “Watermelon Slice” at Home Depot and a quart of white. I simply mixed equal parts of both to create my “in between”color.
To Create the Painted Ombre Effect:
- Measure where your shelves will end up being on your leg pieces and make a little mark with a pencil.
- Starting with the white, paint down to the first mark.
- Paint your “middle color” from the next mark up and dry brush it more as it gets closer to the white paint line. Keep all strokes going upward to make the ombre seem like it fades into the next color. I found using my finger a little bit with the painting created a nice effect as well.
- Do the same thing with the darkest color up to the middle color.
- Allow paint to dry between each step.
- Paint one shelf the darkest color, one the middle color and paint your top pieces the lightest color.
Then assemble it all together (sign up for your free Home Depot DIH Workshop to learn how HERE!)!
I then spray painted the outside of my bucket gold using Rustoleum’s Pure Gold Metallic Spray Paint. I love it because it’s primer and paint all in one! I definitely needed that for this project:
I also got some cute little L-brackets and sprayed them gold as well. I added them to my corners for a fun little detail. It’s the perfect touch!
