This is the CLASSIC MARSHMALLOW FRUIT DIP YOU ARE LOOKING FOR!
Who ever came up with the concept of a DIP for FRUIT deserves some kind of medal or something… this stuff is amazing! As a kid I remember only eating this at a fancy party or baby shower. But now that I’m an adult I can make it whenever I want (and I do!)! This is #adulting at its finest.
Make this for your next party, special event or eat it with a spoon! Either way, people will be happy.
Marshmallow Fruit Dip
My daughter will come home from school and eat a million strawberries and blueberries if she can get just a little dollop of this deliciousness. It might be her new obsession actually. Best of all, it only requires three ingredients and if I plan accordingly, I can always have them on hand.
Classic Marshmallow Fruit Dip
The perfect fruit dip you’ve been looking for!
- 1 7 oz. jar Marshmallow creme
- 1 8 oz. package cream cheese
- 1 C. powdered sugar
- Mix ingredients together and you’re done!
Easy to make and even easier to eat it all if you’re not careful!
Whip this up for your next special occasion or just an after school snack! Enjoy!
I have lumps in my dip. How can I make it smoother? I’ve been using a blender and still can’t make it smooth.
Are the lumps cream cheese or the powdered sugar? I haven’t ever used anything except a hand mixer and haven’t ever had lumps. If the lumps are sugar I feel like they will dissolve after some time of letting the dip settle. If it’s cream cheese then are you using a fat free cream cheese or something? I don’t know why it would be lumpy. So sorry!
Hello! I just made the dip tonight. I hand mixed it with a spoon, and i discovered lumps too. I think you might just have to mix it a little longer… The cream cheese might have been too cold… But I’m also not 100% sure!! I hope this helps, even a little! ??
I have made this for years! I always make sure the cream cheese is very soft or buy the cream cheese spread or whipped cream cheese and it turns out not lumpy! I had lumpy issues when I first started making it also. Was using a spoon so switched to a mixer also!
Hi, I just did this and I let the cream cheese to thaw for an hour and I mixed first with my mixer after it was creamy I added the marshmallow cream and sifted the sugar and add it to the mix. No lumps
The cream cheese should be soft (room temp) or use a whipped cream cheese. Also, sift the powdered sugar, sometimes that can be the issue. If you have a food processor, give it a few minutes with the chopping blade after you blended it in your stand mixer or with your hand mixer. This will get it super smooth.
I’m so happy to find this recipe. I’m hosting a 4th of July party and thought of this dip. A good friend of mine used to make it all the time and it was a big hit. Can’t wait to try it out for the family.
How long do you think this will keep for?
I think it would be good for as long as the cream cheese will keep since the other ingredients is just sugar. My experience is that cream cheese keeps for a long time!
Hello Landee, thank you so much for this creamy fruit dip. I was looking up “fruit dips” to make containing marshmallow creme, my friend had made one (i know she has a pinterest account) and i told her don’t tell me the recipe because you can always lure me to your house this way. Well she took me serious! So i attempted different ways with no success even after I came across yours previously! Well this is the exact same taste my friend had, my husband approved, so ha to her! My kids go crazy for this dip and I also, I can never get enough, but only with your recipe! thank you for sharing.
To others reading my comment, make it just like it states, you will not go wrong! DELICIOUS!
I can not stress the THANK YOU!
I love this comment so much! Thank you so much for the kind words! It is definitely a family favorite around here too! My daughter makes it at least once every other week… ha! Thanks again for stopping by!
How many servings does this recipe yield?
You know, I’m not sure… a “serving” is so subjective with dips! I will say I took it to a baby shower that had about 30 people there and, among some other treats of course, it was plenty!
Hi Landee, not sure if we have marshmallow cream in Australia. Can you show me what you mean so I can find an alternative?
You can also make this fruit dip using 8oz. softened Cream Cheese, 1 cup Powdered Sugar, and 1 cup Cool Whip. Mix it togethet using a hand or stand mixer.
I’ve made this fruit dip for 30 years and mine is a little different than the one shown. I use 8 oz. softened Cream Cheese & small jar Marshmallow Cream, mix with hand mixer and cool in frig for at least 2 hours. I have seen recipes like the one above only using 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of Lemon Juice added.
I’ve never had lumps in mine but I also set my cream cheese out the night before so it can softened for at least 8 hours.
I will be making this for our Ladies Christmas Tea at our church tomorrow. Pray it turns out well.
How many servings does this make? Thinking about making this for a class party- it looks delicious!
Thanks!
I’ve made this for years without the sugar. It’s tangy/sweet and very yummy that way too. I’ve also experimented with adding a little lemon, vanilla, or nutmeg. Might try ginger next!
Hi! Would it work to substitute yogurt instead of cream cheese?
This is so good! My kids beg me to make it so they can put it in their lunches!
This sounds like it would be good with a little lemon or orange zest mixed in for a slightly different taste. Has anyone ever tried it?
I think orange zest would be delicious! I’ve made this for years but without the sugar (it’s sweet enough) and use orange juice in the mix. I have never measured it, but probably approximately 1 TBL. It depends on how thick/thin you want it. Mine appears to be thinner than the pictures shown in the recipe, but that’s the way my family likes it. 😉
Oh that sounds yummy to add a little OJ in there! Yes, for sure it doesn’t need the powdered sugar for flavor purposes but it does make it a little fluffier than when I leave it out. But either way it’s delish! Thanks for sharing your modifications!
adding a packet of your favorite kool aid flavor makes a flavored dip. Lemonade or cherry are the family favorites. Just add at the end and mix well.
I had lumps too until i discovered the sequence of making it. Use a hand mixer with room temperature cheese add the powdered sugar to that and beat well until smooth then add the marshmallow cream. I never had lumps after that
Can I make this the day before and refrigerate it?
Absolutely! It keeps for a good week or so.
Can this be made a day ahead and refrigerated, or is it best to make it just before serving?
Yes! It can keep in the fridge for quite a while (but I don’t know HOW long because it’s always gobbled up in a day or two!).
I would not recommend leaving it to sit out overnight or for any length of time! Talk about inviting trouble . All it takes is one time.
Oh for sure don’t let it sit out overnight. But it will keep in the fridge for quite a while!
Can someone give me an estimate of how many cups this makes? I’m making for a party this weekend. Thanks!
I’m preparing this for a baby shower this weekend and I wondered which fruits seem best for this dip or are the biggest hit? Strawberries and pineapple seem like a great combination but are there any other suggestions? I’m nervous that the berries may be too small.
Thank you in advance for ALL of your amazing help with this yummy treat.
Hi Shannon! Most fruits taste wonderful with this dip! Strawberries, pineapple, apples, bananas, blueberries, and raspberries are the most common ones used. I probably wouldn’t cut the apples or bananas until just before the baby shower, however, to avoid browning. Good luck with the shower!
This is a quick and easy recipe. I squeezed a few drops of fresh lime juice after mixture was smooth which gave the dip a bit of tartness to counteract the sweetness. The few drops didn’t dilute the mixture. It was perfect!
I made this for the superbowl and everyone loved it. I will definitely be making this again.
So glad you liked it Ginny! It’s a favorite around here for sure!
