I am happy to report that I now have my Christmas mantel up and it is making me so happy! I haven’t posted about my family room yet but it has gotten a pretty significant make over and it is not lending itself well to the traditional red and green colors of Christmas anymore as it is all greys, pinks and yellows. So I needed to come up with a festive-yet-neutral palette this year and it was a fun challenge! It’s a combination of store-bought items and DIY projects and I loved putting it all together!
Will I ever get tired of stringing up my spray painted gold lights? Doubtful. 🙂 I’ve used them on past mantels HERE and HERE and I see no sign of stopping! Look at them all lit up in the pictures below! It’s so cozy and pretty… love!
The deer silhouette is made out of pallet wood and it’s awesome! I got it from a friend’s Etsy shop HERE. They only made a couple but if you send them a note maybe they will make another for you!
I DIYed the PEACE sign and the full tutorial can be found HERE. It made me flex my creative muscles figuring out how to get it to work like I pictured in my head but I love how it turned out!
Of course I brought back out my boxwood trees that I love but made them more substantial by placing them in some white glass containers. I also stained a 2×6 block of wood and stenciled a star on it. It was the perfect touch!
And I love my little boxwood wreath garland I made for only $3! Tutorial for that HERE.
I also added this pretty marble tree from Target (affiliate) and lit copper star (aff). These are a couple of new additions to my Christmas decor this year and I’m excited to use them over and over.
Christmas Mantel Decor: PEACE
And here it is all lit up at night. I LOVE turning off most of the other lights around the family room and just letting this glow!
The lights were super bright so I plugged them into this lamp dimmer switch so I can now control how intense the lights are. Nice and dim or super bright! (affiliate)
Do you put up a Christmas mantel? It’s one of my favorite spots in the house to gussy up for the holidays!
Have a wonderful Christmas season!
Where are the lights from, love them…love all of this 🙂
They are just regular Christmas lights that I spray painted! You can see that post here: http://www.landeeseelandeedo.com/2014/12/gold-christmas-decor-mantel-details.html
Love this mantle, wish i would have seen it before Christmas! Think I’ll do it for next year. I love the white shiplap like board for the background. Did you make that? Any helps for doing it?
Thanks Julie
Hi Julie! I talk a little bit about how I made it at the end of this post: http://www.landeeseelandeedo.com/2014/10/handmade-halloween-mantel.html# Then, after that mantel decor, I painted the whole thing white and have had it up ever since! Thanks for stopping by!
