I am excited to be back here on Landeelu.com to share with you a quick and easy organizing project. Most of my organizing projects have been on hold the last few weeks because we are in the middle of finishing our basement and all of my time and energy has been focused on that. I am so excited to be sharing with you those projects in the upcoming months, but for now I will show you a quick way to make big splash in your drawers.
In our previous home, I didn’t have a drawer dedicated to my makeup. It was all in a bag and put in the one tiny drawer I had for all of my daily beauty products. When we moved into this house last August, I was excited to be able to spread my makeup out so I could actually see all the things I have to use every day. But, since then, the drawer has been very unorganized. I’ve kept my eye out for some dividers to help tidy things up, but everything I brought home was too tall for the drawer. A few weeks ago, when I was at Home Depot with my husband, I spotted a set of 3 acrylic drawer organizers that look like they just might work! And they were only $10!
I love clear drawer organizers. It makes things look so fresh and clean. I also love that I can pair it with a great patterned drawer/shelf liner to make the drawer really POP when you open it.
I stopped at Target the other day and found this beautiful patterned contact paper. If you can’t find a contact paper you love, you can use any beautiful paper (even wrapping paper!) and cover it with clear contact paper so it becomes wipeable and easy to remove!
To prepare my drawer, I removed everything and vacuumed and wiped it out. You will want to have a fresh clean surface to adhere your contact paper to.
Measure your drawer and then cut your contact paper to size. I usually cut mine just a little big at first and then trim a little if needed.
Start in a corner and pull back the backing off slowly. Smooth out with your fingers to get any bubbles out. You can also use a credit card or ruler. The great thing about contact paper is that it is repositionable, so if you need to pull it back up to start over, you can.
Once the drawer is lined, you can add in your acrylic trays and start filling them.
With my makeup – I like to keep like items together as much as possible. My brushes and eyeshadows together, face items together, lips stuff together. I also added a magnetic tray (you can purchase one from any hardware store) for my bobby pins.
Now, when I open the drawer everything is beautiful and organized. I love the pop of color from the contact paper. I also love that things stay corralled and aren’t rolling around. It makes getting ready in the morning a pleasure.

I love the clear tray with the contact paper under. I like to personalize my things and this is so cute! I also love how you can easily clean the drawer.
