I finally got my Halloween mantel up!
I decided to go with a black, orange, white and silver color scheme this year and I love love love it.
To assemble this mantel I first started with my Painted Pumpkins Garland I made a couple of weeks ago. This really set the tone for all of the rest of the things I ended up putting on there. I then made a huge spider’s web art piece to go in my 16×20 frame. I thought it would create a nice backdrop to the whole look and I am so happy with how it turned out.
If you would like, you can download the spider’s web art in 3 different sizes (5×7, 8×10 or 16×20) HERE.
I created this orange polka dot piece by painting a board white and doing the same technique I used for my Halloween Mason Jars to create the polka dots. I put painter’s tape on some parchment paper and then punched it out with my 3″ and 2″ circle punches. I then put them on my (now) white board in a polka dot pattern and then painted over the entire thing with orange paint. When I removed the tape circles, the white showed through and it was a Halloween miracle! Just kidding… but it did work! I then sanded the edges well as well as a little bit of distressing on the surface to give it a nice Halloween look. Then I added a spider I cut out of vinyl to tie it to the spider’s web art I had made.
I also added a vinyl owl to an inexpensive silver charger I had found at Hobby Lobby for an insta-Halloween look. Easy!
The “oct. 31” sign is from Evie Ivy. So dang cute, right?
I also added my little owls that I made over recently and they fit in very well to their new home! The ceramic Frankenstein head was found at Michaels and was all white. I loved that, of course, but decided to paint his head bolts and stitches with my silver metallic craft paint for a little bit of detail. It took about 5 whole minutes and added so much!
I then added my Halloween Painted Mason Jars, a wiry pumpkin I’ve had for years, and a little rubber rat and I felt like my job was done!
So glad to have this up and I am giddy with how it turned out! I love a good ole’ classic color scheme and polka dots are always a winner as far as I’m concerned.
Hope you are loving your fall so far and am enjoying decorating for the season!
