Halloween Hand Gift

I am once again in charge of Teacher Appreciation at my children's elementary school.  This means I need to come up with little gifts and things for each holiday to distribute to all teachers and staff members of the school.  There are about 100 such teachers and staff which makes for some intense and budget-friendly crafting!

For Halloween this year I was so glad to run across this post from The Queen's Card Castle on Pinterest!  Such a fun way to give some candy to teachers, neighbors, friends, Visiting Teachees, co-workers, etc!  And they are quick to put together.  Get your hands on some surgical gloves (I got mine at Walmart), put a roll of Smarties in each finger and fill the rest with whatever candy you want.  I used small hair rubber bands to keep them securely closed then tied on the tag with some ribbon and added a festive bat ring.  It's all about presentation! :)

Below I've created two different tags for you to use .... one for a teacher and the other is generic for everyone else.  To download right-click and save!
I really was amazed how quickly these came together!

Have a wonderful Halloween!

Movie Night Cookies

I came across this recipe in the latest issue of Family Fun Magazine and I had to try it out!  I loved the idea of adding popcorn to cookies (I'm a sucker for the salty & sweet combo) and while I usually substitute chocolate chips in any cookie recipe that requires raisins, I figured Raisinetes might be the one exception to that rule.  And I was right!

These are so unique and yummy.  These would be so fun at a movie themed birthday party or a movie night with your family!

MOVIE NIGHT COOKIES

2.5 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temp
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1.5 cups milk chocolate Raisinets
3 cups buttered & salted popcorn

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

2. Mix flour, baking soda and salt in bowl.

3. In large bowl, using a mixer (hand or stand), cream butter until it's light and fluffy.  Add both sugars and blend until well combined.

4. Add one of the eggs to butter & sugar mixture.  Add JUST THE YOLK of the second egg.  Add vanilla and mix until well combined.

5. Add flour mixture to wet ingredients in three batches, mixing well after each addition.

6. Stir in Raisinets and then gently fold in popcorn (I did this with the cookie paddle attachement on low speed).

7.  Drop by spoonfuls (about 2 T. each) onto parchment lined cookie sheet and bake about 14 minutes.

Beware of Children! Printable

I finally got around to making a Halloween printable for my (new) 5x7 frame on my kitchen table.  Someone had contacted my Etsy shop and wanted this saying on a board and I thought it was hilarious.  So I made it into a printable to share with you!

Right click and save image below to download.

5x7

8x10

Or you can download it in 5x7 or 8x10 sizes HERE. (but there have been some issues with "bandwidth" so it may not work there)

I think it would also be cute mod podged onto a plaque/board/whatever and hung outside!

Enjoy!

Piece of Pumpkin Pie Shake

Love pumpkin?  Love ice cream?  Like easy?

I LOVE pumpkin flavored ANYTHING, admittedly, but this treat is truly something amazing.  And so fun to make!

You have to try this.

Ready for the recipe?

2 C. vanilla ice cream
1/2 C. milk (more or less depending on the consistency you want)
1 piece pumpkin pie

Put it all in your blender and push the button!

SO SO SO GOOD!

so so so easy if you just get your pie at Walmart like I did.  :)  And I can't be sure, because I haven't tried them all, but I'm guessing this would be amazing with so many different kinds of pie.... can you imagine the possibilities here?  Am I right?  And I'm guessing left over birthday cake also blends well.  Any other possibilities you can think of?  I'm a bit blender happy right now.

Halloween Entry

I continue to deck the halls for All Hallow's Eve!  I finished the entry way and am excited to share my "bat cave" with you today!  Have I mentioned my love affair with paper?  It's so cheap and easy to work with and, in this case of it being cut into about 35 bats, HIGH IMPACT!

I used my Silhouette to cut the bats but I'm sure your local scrapbooking store has a die cut that would be very inexpensive to use (if not free).  There are also thousands of bat images out there on the web you (or your slaves kids) could use as a template to hand cut your own.

I then folded them in half to give them some dimension and just stuck them on the wall using masking tape.  Loved the end result!

Other details of the entry way are my last-year's-clearance-Halloween-garland from Target that I wrapped around my topiary tree...

...and a witch silhouette I cut out and stuck to my mirror.

My little bowl of CREEPERS is also in there. :)

Just off my entry way is my living room which always causes issues around this time of year since the color scheme doesn't lend itself well to the fall holidays.  I fixed this issue last year with my Pretty Pumpkins.  For Halloween this year I decided to make them a little more modern by replacing the decorative twig stems with some cute ribbon.  It gives them a whole new look!

I love Halloween!

The Posts of Halloween Past

Today I thought I'd share with you my Fall/Halloween posts from last year.  Many of you weren't around Landeeville then and you shouldn't be punished for that.  :)

Last year's Halloween Mantel... a tutorial for my Halloween Moulding Bunting can be found HERE.

Next, a DELICIOUS recipe for Pumpkin Crunch!  It's a new twist on the traditional pumpkin pie and I hate to say it, but it makes pumpkin pie seem like you're eating cardboard with whip cream on it.  I'm sorry, but it's true.  Give it a try and let me know what you think!  You won't be disappointed.  Recipe can be found HERE.

I also decided to prettify some faux pumpkins to go in my non-Halloween-colors-friendly living room.  Craft paint, sparkle paint and some embellishments made for some beautiful fall decorations in some colors you might not normally think of for fall.  Tutorial found HERE.

I also created a fun Halloween Printable for my kitchen table.  It's available in 5x7 or 8x10 sizes HERE.

Next I made a small mummy juice box army out of white duct tape and googly eyes (yay!) for my daughter's class Halloween party...

...as well as 96 treat filled tissue paper pumpkins for the teachers and staff of my kid's school.  Information on both of these projects can be found HERE.

And finally, last year's fabric wrapped Halloween wreath.  A tutorial on how to make it yourself can be found HERE.

So there you have it!  You're all caught up now!  I am still decorating for this year so look for some more fun Halloween projects next week!

Googly Eye Balls

And so Landee's Halloween love affair with the googly eyes continues.... :)

Today I'm sharing an easy Halloween craft with you!  And believe me, the hardest part was coming up with a name for them.... "Googly Eye Ball Balls" or "Googly Eye Ball Decorative Balls" or "Googly Eyes Balls"... it was maddening!  But making them was dang fun and I love the result!

Supplies Needed:

  • Mod Podge or white craft glue
  • Googly eyes (a variety of sizes is best)
  • Styrofoam ball

STEP ONE: Brush Mod Podge (or white glue) on one half of your styrofoam ball and stick on the eyes.  Allow to dry before moving onto the other half.  The eyes slip around quite a bit when on wet Mod Podge and you need something to hang onto while you do the other side.

STEP TWO:   Repeat STEP ONE for other half.

STEP THREE:  Display!

I put mine in a glass jar I have in the middle of my kitchen table along with some fabric covered balls and small pumpkins I painted last year.

These could also be fun up on candle sticks, hanging from light fixtures or anywhere else!  I also thought they'd be cute if you painted the ball orange or black before adhering the eyes.  And they make a fun rattle noise if you shake them too... bonus!

Happy Halloween Crafting!

Halloween Ribbon Wreath

I call this a "Halloween Ribbon Wreath" but that's just because I made it for Halloween.  Using different ribbons would make it a fit for any holiday or decor!  Which is why I love it so.   And "easy" doesn't even BEGIN to describe the level of difficulty here.  Can you cut ribbon?  Can you tie a knot?  This wreath is for you!

Supplies Needed:

  • A variety of ribbon from your ribbon stash or purchased at 50% off at Hobby Lobby (I swear it's 50% off every other week).  Different widths, patterns, textures are the best.  The more variety the better!
  • A straw wreath

STEP ONE: Wrap your straw wreath one of your selected ribbons.  I chose solid black.  This keeps the straw from ruining all your fun with the inevitable "peek through."

STEP TWO:  Cut pieces of ribbon and tie around wreath using your basic square knot!  I started with my wide ribbons first and then went back and filled in with the thinner ones.

STEP THREE:  Optional but I think it made a big difference... cut the ends of all your ribbons in a V.  This definitely gave it a more finished and festive look.

STEP FOUR:  Fluff and froof until you get it how you want it and hang it up!

Can't you see this as a fun birthday wreath (not to upstage THIS ONE though!) or Christmas or Easter or, or, or.... you see where I'm going with this.  But I will say I am loving it in the orange and black!  Halloween decor makes me happy.

Itsy, Bitsy Magnetic Spiders: Sweet Charli

Guess what, you guys?  Today we have a fabulous guest blogger in the Landee house!  It is Kami from Sweet Charli and not only is she so creative and adorable, she is also my husband's cousin!  I've been begging her to do a guest post for a while and I'm so glad it has finally happened!  Go check out her blog for fantastic ideas and inspiration!

I'm so happy to be sharing my latest Halloween project with all of you on Landeeseelandeedo!!  Halloween is the one time of year when I don't mind spiders crawling in my house!  My home is being attacked by these cute little bugs right now!

I made my spiders out of black pompoms and zigzagged floral wire.  I just stuck a small magnet on the back and found so many places for them to reside in my house!
note:  I put another magnet behind the lamp shade to make the spiders stay.  This would work for curtains too, and lots more.
I thought it be fun for my guests to be greeted with spiders on my doorstep too!
Here is the part I am most excited about...
Some houses (not all) have magnetic corners in their walls, they are made of metal!  If your walls are magnetic, make sure you have a strong magnet that will be able to go through the paint and the sheet rock.  You will have so much fun seeing the spiders crawl up your wall!
After you make these, you will search your house for hours trying to find the right place for your itsy, bitsy spiders!!

If you don't want to make these, you can use any little spiders that you see in stores and just glue magnets to them.

Thanks for letting me share!  :)

Don't you love those??  I'm totally going to make some and put them on my lamp shades and wall corners.  Love that idea!  Thanks Kami!  Be sure to check her out over at Sweet Charli!
