I thought I'd share what I've been working on over the weekend. It's not traditional crafting, but it is creating. I LOVE, repeat, LOVE Photoshop. Everything I've learned how to do on there has been self-taught through tinkering & experimenting. It is not hard once you get down some basic concepts (i.e. layers, adjustments, text, etc). I promise!
So, at the beginning of the school year I had the opportunity to take the senior pictures of one of my favorite people. She is probably one of the most photogenic people I've ever met. I promise that any picture that didn't turn out was due to the crappy photographer!
Anyway, now that graduation is coming near, she decided that maybe she didn't want to send out the usual tri-fold announcement with foil lettering and a little card with her name on it. That's been done. So she asked if I could doctor up some of her favorite senior pictures for her to send out to family and friends. If I knew where to start on a tutorial & how to do screen shots I so would....but I can't. So hopefully you know just the basics and can just look at these and see what I did.
The steps were: 1) Crop photo to 5x7 (the size she wanted). 2) Add text in various sizes and fonts for interest.
For this one I pulled a color out of her shirt to create a color block for the text. Since it was a vertical picture and no room for all the text this is how I solved that problem.
I love how they turned out. Unique and fun. I'd much rather receive this in the mail than those lame ones the high school gives you!
Side note #1: No, you're not invited to the graduation but I'm sure she wouldn't turn down a monetary gift. :)
Side note #2: If you have a picture you'd like me to do this to I'd be happy to! It would be about $8/photo design. Email me if you're interested. But again, I'm hoping you can do it yourself & this just inspires you to use your senior's photos in a different way!
Side note #3: Don't forget to enter my $50 Target gift card giveaway! It closes midnight May 7th! My birthday week has been wonderful and I've loved reading all your comments and birthday wishes! Thank you to everyone!

Great job Landee! I love Photoshop too. It has a huge learning curve, but it is fabulous what you can do with it. I would SO much rather have these as my graduation announcements than the traditional ones. I am sure your beautiful friend loved what you created for her! :)
Heather
Those announcements are lovely! I also LOVE Photoshop! I didn't have it for a while cause I got a mac and my PC broke but I got it again and I LOVE it! I don't know how I survived without it :D
For cute! I wish you could have done my graduation announcements!
Those turned out GREAT! Well done! Mental note: in a few years learn how to use Photoshop OR keep landee's number close :)!
These look great! And, I can't believe Micah's already graduating! Where did the time go?!
That is a great idea for a graduation announcement. Your cute husband showed me how to comment so expect more comments in the future.
OMG!
I just found you!!!!
Love your stuff.
The best part...we share the same name! I've never met another on. I'm Honor Landi.
Heck, I've never met a Honor or a Landi!!!
You are absolutely right, I would love a monetary gift! Haha, Thank you so much for doing these for me! I love them!
